Heloo Guys,You must have heard about the world’s cheapest tablet – Aakash – produced in India. The HRD minister, Kapil Sibal, has recently launched the tablet, aimed at the Indian students. Aakash tablet is priced at Rs 1750 for students and will be available to general public at the price tag of around Rs 3000.
Recently many of my friends have asked me where and how to buy Aakash Tablet. I know all of you are eagerly waiting to get your hands on the world’s cheapest tablet powered by Android 2.2. That’s why I’ve come up with this post in which I’m going to share some FAQ that you need to know.
As you all know that this tablet aimed at Indian students. The HRD minister, Kapil Sabil, has announced that it would be first distributed to a few colleges/universities in India. Although he hasn’t given any college list. The tablet will be sold with the name UbiSlate7 to general public.
I’m a Student in India. How to get Aakash Tablet?
As I said above, Kapil Sibal has not given any list of colleges/universities to which the tablet will be distributed. If you’re a student, ask your college management if Aakash Tablet will be provided to the students. If your college/university has been selected for the initial distribution of Aakash tablet, you can get it for just Rs 1750 from your college.
When will it be available to the selected colleges/universities?
The company promises that a retail version of the tablet will come up in November. Around 100,000 computer tablets will be made available by January 2012. If you’re not a student, you have to wait till January.
I’m not a Student. How can I get this tablet?
The tablet will be sold to general public with the name UbiSlate7. It’ll be available in market very soon. As of now, you can only book your tablet at the official webpage. Visit the tablet official website and fill the form on the right hand sidebar. As soon as the tablet is available in the market, one of their counsellors will contact you over the details you’ve provided while filling the form. I still don’t have any idea whether it will be available at local stores, just like other gadgets. Note that it’ll cost you around Rs 3000 if you buy the tablet online.
Will Aakash Tablet support regular SIM Card?

Will it be available on online stores like Flipkart or Letsbuys?
Aakash tablet is still in manufacturing stage. They will start the distribution process in selected colleges/universities once they have done with the adequate production. You can book your tablet at the official webpage and just wait for the launch in the commercial market. Later on when it’s rolled out in the market, you can also buy it through popular online web stores such as ebay and flipkart.
Will it have access to Android Marketplace?
t’s quite a let down for many as it won’t have access to Android Market place. Although it will come with pre-installed apps. You can also download content from Government Sakshat portal.
